Hickory Nut Cake
| 1 cup sugar ½ cup sweet milk 3 eggs ½ cup butter 2 teaspoons baking powder flour to stiffen |
One large cup chopped hickory nuts and sprinkle a little salt and flour with them. This makes two layers.
Lace Cakes
| 1 cup brown sugar 1 egg, not beaten 1½ tablespoon flour 1 round teaspoon butter 1 cup English walnuts chopped |
Bake on the underside of a pan in a slow oven. This makes 20 cakes.
