Harry (all ears).—No; what was it?
Dick.—Oh, it’s too gross, too gross entirely!
Harry.—Tell away. I’ll try to stand it.
Dick.—Well; 288 is two gross, isn’t it?
AN INCONSEQUENT ECHO
Byron in his “Bride of Abydos” is responsible for the following strangely inconsequent echo:—
Hark to the hurried question of Despair,
“Where is my child?” and Echo answers,
“Where?”
A well-conducted echo would assuredly have seconded the cry of Despair by repeating the final syllables “my child!”
AN APPROPRIATE ANSWER
Why did the Razorbill raise her bill?
