Enrique Pérez Escrich, b. 1823 in Valencia, d. 1897. Pérez Escrich is a writer of plays and pleasant stories in a simple, direct style. The subject treated in Tony, that of a dog that is mistakenly believed to be mad, is taken up again and treated more fully and more happily in Fortuna.
