| The Brazilian Government shall engage not only not to undertake any expedition against other Colonies, or Settlements, of Portugal, but not to entertain any Proposition which may be made to them for the alienation from Portugal, or union with Brazil of any of the said Colonies or Settlements. | The

it may continue to occupy on that part of the Continent of America,
which constitutes the Brazilian Territory. |
