William Harbutt Dawson was a British journalist, civil servant and author, and an acknowledged expert on German politics and society.

William Harrison Ainsworth

William Harrison Ainsworth was an English historical novelist born at King Street in Manchester. He trained as a lawyer, but the legal profession held no attraction for him. While completing his legal studies in London he met the publisher John Ebers, at that time manager of the King's Theatre, Haymarket. Ebers introduced Ainsworth to literary and dramatic circles, and to his daughter, who became Ainsworth's wife.

William Harvey

William Harvey was an English physician who made influential contributions in anatomy and physiology. He was the first known physician to describe completely, and in detail, the systemic circulation and properties of blood being pumped to the brain and the rest of the body by the heart, though earlier writers, such as Realdo Colombo, Michael Servetus, and Jacques Dubois, had provided precursors of the theory.

William Henry Babcock (1849–1922) was an American author and poet. He was born in 1849 in St. Louis, the son of Jonathan Wells Babcok and Catharine Babcock. In 1874 he married Ann Johns Earle, having at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He died Washington, DC, in 1922.
