GAUGE: 7 sts: 2 inches
Directions are given for Small to Medium size. Changes for Medium to Large size are given in parentheses.
TOP SECTION: Starting at toe, with White cast on 5 sts (both sizes). 1st ROW: K across row. 2nd ROW: K 2, P 1 (center st), K 2. 3rd ROW: K 1, inc in next st, K 1 (center st), inc in next st, K 1. 4th ROW: K 3, P 1, K 3. 5th ROW: K across row inc 1 st before and after center st. 6th ROW: K 4, P 1, K 4. Repeat last 2 rows always inc 1 st before and after center st on 1st row and always P center st on 2nd row until there are 23 (27) sts on needle, ending on wrong side. Work 4 more rows even as established (both sizes). NEXT ROW: Work across 11 (13) sts, place next 12 (14) sts on st holder, cast on 10 (12) sts; 21 (25) sts. NEXT 15 (19) ROWS: K across each row. NEXT SHORT ROW: (Inc row): K across 10 sts (both sizes), turn. NEXT SHORT ROW: (inc row): K across these 10 sts. (These 2 short rows inc the length.) NEXT 4 ROWS: K across all sts. NEXT 2 ROWS: Repeat 2 short inc rows. NEXT ROW: Dec 1 st at beg of row, work across remaining sts. Bind off. Place sts from holder on needle; on free needle cast on 10 (12) sts, then K center st and next st tog, K across remaining sts. NEXT 18 ROWS: K across each row. Then repeat from 1st inc row of 1st section to last row. Bind off.
SOLE: With Black, cast on 4 sts. Starting at heel work in garter st (K each row). 1st ROW: Inc 1 st at beg and end of row. 2nd ROW: K across row. Repeat 1st and 2nd rows until there are 8 (10) sts on needle. NEXT 27 (31) ROWS: K across each row. NEXT ROW: Inc 1 st at beg and end of row. NEXT 21 (25) ROWS: K across each row. NEXT ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row. NEXT ROW: K across row. Repeat last 2 rows twice. Bind off.
FINISHING: Sew back seam of boot tog. Insert sole section and sew in position.
POMPON: (Make 2): Wind Black 150 times over a 2 inch cardboard. Tie one end, cut other end. Trim into shape and sew in position.
EYELETS: With right side facing, attach yarn at top of boot, * ch 2, skip 2 sts, sl st in next 2 sts, repeat from * all around front of boot, cut yarn. LACING: Work a ch 18 inches long and lace through eyelets.
