Dark Fruit Cake

½ cup butter

¾ cup brown sugar

¾ cup raisins, seeded and cut in pieces

¾ cup currants

½ cup citron, thinly sliced and cut in strips

½ cup molasses

2 eggs

½ cup milk

2 cups flour

½ teaspoon soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon allspice

½ teaspoon mace

¼ teaspoon clove

½ teaspoon lemon extract

Follow directions for mixing butter cake mixtures. Bake in deep cake pans one and one-quarter hours.
