Obverse, cross, bust, or monogram, etc., and name ETHELVVLF, ÆTHELVVLF, AETHLVLF, ETHELVLF, ETHELVVLFI, or other form; R, RE, REX, or REXX. Reverse, cross, monogram, or other device, and moneyer’s name. On some the titles of the king are continued on the reverse, as CANT, SAXONIORVM, OCCIDENTALIVM, etc. About sixty varieties of moneyer’s names are known.
