Empalement four-leaved; leaflets lance-shaped, slightly sawed, and pressed to the blossom.

Blossom cylindrically club-shaped, scarlet colour, and narrowed at the mouth, slightly curved, near an inch long, the border reflexed.

Chives eight hair-like threads; tips bearded, and within the blossom.

Pointal. Seed-bud turban-shaped, furrowed, with honey-cups at the base. Shaft thread-shaped. Summit four-cornered.

Native of the Cape of Good Hope.

Flowers from the month of April till August.
