Anna Hanson Dorsey was an American author of novels and short stories. A convert to Catholicism, she was a pioneer of Catholic literature in the United States.

Anna Katharine Green was an American poet and novelist. She was one of the first writers of detective fiction in America and distinguished herself by writing well plotted, legally accurate stories. Green has been called "the mother of the detective novel".

Anna Maria Porter (1778–1832) was a British poet and novelist.

Anna Robertson Brown Lindsay (1864–1948) was the first woman to earn a doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania; she had previously attended Wellesley College and Oxford University. She wrote a number of books on theological topics, most of which were published in the early-1900s. Anna Robertson Brown Lindsay was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister and the first woman to graduate with a Ph.D in English from the University of Pennsylvania.

Anna Seward was an English Romantic poet, often called the Swan of Lichfield. She benefited from her father's progressive views on female education.

Anna Sewell was an English novelist. She is known as the author of the 1877 novel Black Beauty, her only published work, which is considered one of the top ten best-selling novels for children, although the author intended the work for an adult audience. Sewell died only five months after Black Beauty's publication, having lived long enough to see her only novel become a success.

Anna T. Sadlier was a Canadian writer whose novels were of a Catholic nature, and whose works numbered over forty volumes. She began to write when she was about eighteen. Her published works include a number of translations from the French, Italian, and Spanish. Sadlier died in 1932.

Anne Isabella Noel Blunt, 15th Baroness Wentworth, known for most of her life as Lady Anne Blunt, was co-founder, with her husband the poet Wilfrid Blunt, of the Crabbet Arabian Stud in England and the Sheykh Obeyd estate near Cairo. The two married on 8 June 1869. From the late 1870s, Wilfrid and Lady Anne travelled extensively in Arabia and the Middle East, buying Arabian horses from Bedouin princes such as Emir Fendi Al-Fayez and the Egyptian Ali Pasha Sherif. Among the great and influential horses they took to England were Azrek, Dajania, Queen of Sheba, Rodania and the famous Ali Pasha Sherif stallion Mesaoud. To this day, the vast majority of purebred Arabian horses trace their lineage to at least one Crabbet ancestor.

Anne Brontë was an English novelist and poet, and the youngest member of the Brontë literary family.

Anne Douglas Sedgwick was an American-born British writer. The daughter of George Stanley Sedgwick, a businessman and Mary (Douglas) Sedgwick, she was born in Englewood, New Jersey but at age nine her family moved to London. Although she made return visits to the United States, she lived in England for the remainder of her life.
