The original is often inconsistent in its spelling of Cebuano. In particular, the o and the u have been used interchangeably. Some of the more glaring issues have been fixed, but no attempt has been made to achieve full consistency or to modernize the spelling.

Another aspect to be aware of is that some spellings may reflect older pronunciations, e.g., where an r has become a d, as in torlo, which in modern Cebuano is tudlo (finger). Similarly, lungsor for lungsod (town), lingcor for lingkod (to sit), compare with modern lingkoranan (chair). Similarly, the sounds of n and ng have often been interchanged. This also happens with the pairs f and p, v and b, and j and h.

The quality of the available scans was sometimes insufficient to reconstruct the intended accents. They have been restored where possible, but due to the low quality of these scans, some issues might have been overlooked, while others may have been introduced during the digitization process.

Minor punctuation issues have been corrected silently, all significant corrections have been listed in the colophon.

Since the available copy of the second edition is missing the last ten pages, and no alternative copy could be located, the entries starting with [Zamarro] have been included from the first edition.
